I just finished Fired and really liked it. Regina has been fired as a receptionist to make way for the vice presidents niece. As she is leaving she meets Richard Sellers in the elevator. Richard is one of the wealthiest investor and has been trying to buy this place she works at. For the past 6 months they have had a pleasant and polite banter but they both feel the attraction. What happens when you think it might be the final goodbye? You have to read and see...

I really liked the story. It was quick and sexy and thought that it flowed really well. Richard is FINE. Grrr, he seemed really dominate and I wish we could have pursued more on this story between them. He does have a secret but he had me at....

"I don't know how else to say it. I've been drawn to you, Regina. I'm absolutely mad about you. I didn't know what else to do."

Yep, I forgave him!!!

Really, you should read this. It is short and sexy and enjoyed it immensely

Richard, the British guy who is trying to buy the company she was just fired from and the man she thinks of when she is alone at home in her bed, just happens to be in the elevator. He takes her elbow and pulls her into the elevator. He tries to get her to laugh and realize that this isn't the end of the world. He offer to take her to lunch. Where will this day end? With some HOT results? Read it to find out...

This was a nice introduction to OpenCV

This was a nice introduction to OpenCV, but be aware that it's only 56 pages. I especially liked the steganography examples. Also, the way the code is explained line-by-line was nice. The title of this book delivers exactly what's promised. It will get you out of the starting blocks when working with OpenCV. The version I read had an error or two in the source code, and the coding design and style isn't the best, but it works. I don't consider myself an expert in C++, but with a little help from StackOverflow, I was able to compile all the examples.

This book was useless for me. Why don't I read reviews before I purchase computer books!

Other reviewers did not try the installation directions for windows. I did.

Some of the links do not exist.
Many of the downloads are land mines - got to be real careful or you will install a bunch crap you did not want. I was not careful and one of the downloads created a new home page for me and installed two useless programs.

After lots of hours I don't have a useable OpenCV program writing capability. Some of the OpenCV paths that are to be used just don't exist in the version of OpenCV that I downloaded. Don't see anywhere I could have got them. OpenCV downloads don't seem to currently contain some of the stuff they may have in the past, so good luck with that part of the install.

Should have lit a match to a 10 dollar bill rather than buy this book. Would have been more fun and much faster. The book has killed my interest in writing a simple OpenCV program.

Disappointing Book.

This is a very small book that does not attempt to do much. The book consists of how to install OpenCV on Linux or Windows and then has 5 code snippets which illustrate basic functionality. If you don't think that is enough for you -- look elsewhere.

My issue with the book is that the linux installation instructions are incorrect, and the part of them that works is obviously stolen from a blog:

I don't know if the Windows part of the book is correct, but the linux information is a joke and the authors should be ashamed. I spend hours trying to figure out why their example code didn't build. Turns out the command they said would build the code is fundamentally incorrect.

The Amazing Vanilla

When I chose this Vanilla book, I was looking for a way to make my own vanilla at home. To my astonishment this book took me to the beginning of the world of vanilla. It is very well written and extremely informative. How to make cooking vanilla was never discussed though.

About the Author
MJ Wayland is a writer, researcher and historian specialising in ghosts, supernatural belief and fringe history. His research has appeared in dozens of publications and he has consulted and appeared in over one hundred television programmes and documentaries. During the last ten years he has lectured internationally as well as appearing at The Sunday Times Literature Festival (along side Professor Bruce Hood) and various festivals and universities across the UK. About the Author
Drew Casper is the Alma and Alfred Hitchcock Professor of American Film at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. He is a DVD commentator on innumerable American films of the classical and postwar periods.

This book is a must for anyone interested in American film during a unique period in US History. It is a beautifully researched, well-organized and dynamically conceived volume that can only enhance our total understanding of the films and the world in which they were created.

Postwar Hollywood Survey

A vast and interesting survey of the ways in which the landscape of Post WWII American Cinema had altered. This book was a required text for a film class I took on films of the 1960's and 70's, which actually made for an interesting comparison how film had transformed even past the Postwar period. If you're interested in censorship policies, this text provides numerous "Test Cases" in which films of the Postwar period actually helped loosen censorship rules.

This is a very thorough book about the post war period concerning Hollywood. The reason for the low review is that in-spite of it's depth, it is extremely confusing and overly complex requiring re-read after re-read, which makes it not worth buying unless you need it for a class.
