Academic But Accessible

Bruijn's review of the 5 main rhetorical frames used by "the face of the far right" in the EU is both academic and accessible to the everyday reader. Wilders, who is charismatic and outspoken in his views of what ails Europe as a whole and the Netherlands in particular, represents what is called the Far Right Populist movement in Holland and elsewhere across the Continent. Most controversial, in my opinion, are his stances on immigration.
Regardless, Bruijn's analysis of the way Wilders couches his political views in language, speech, and perspective is insightful, descriptive, and supported by prime examples. Although my rhetorical analysis background is limited, I found this book quite understandable.
Bruijn goes on to describe ways that those who oppose Wilders might use an understanding of rhetorical re-framing of prime political issues to present opposition without appearing to buy into Wilder's perspectives and without coming across as defensive and negative.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of European politics, of issues in Europe that are similar to America, and of rhetorical framing for argumentation.
